James qualified from Liverpool University Medical School in 1985 and spent 12 years training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology before taking up a consultant post at Leighton Hospital, Crewe in 1997. He continues to practice in both Obstetrics and Gynaecology. He is a fellow of the RCOG. During his training, he worked as a Clinical Research Fellow in the Reproductive Medicine and Assisted Conception Unit in Bristol. He has developed fertility services at Leighton Hospital, setting up a dedicated fertility clinic for the rapid assessment and treatment of patients including the provision of IVF and ICSI.
