THE UKCFA's POSITION ON PGD FOR FAMILY BALANCING IS AS FOLLOWS:

• UKCFA does not provide PGD for family balancing/sex selection in the UK
• UKCFA’s involvement in ovarian stimulation improves the safety of patients planning to undergo treatment abroad

PGD is legally provided in Northern Cyprus:

• In a safe environment, ISO 9001 accredited, state of the art unit.
• The Cyprus clinic is state registered and regularly inspected by the MoH (Ministry of Health).
• UKCFA Consultants may agree to prepare and support the patient to have IVF if suitable.
• Couples receive full counselling, are informed about all risks and consent to treatment.
• Mandatory, independent counselling is provided for all couples by the UKCFA prior to commencing any treatment.
• Ovarian stimulation is carried out in the UK ensuring the safety of the patients.
• Couples considering PGD for family balancing have to discuss this with the unit in Cyprus upon their arrival.
