Words can not explain how our ‘friends’ feel when they realise they are pregnant and are going to have a baby. I say friends because that’s what they become. Every Monday morning we open the ‘Happy Sack’ and read the cards and letters from couples who have become pregnant, had a baby or even those who simply want to keep in touch.

I publish these testimonials because to me it demonstrates just how worthwhile the journey to pregnancy and ultimately motherhood really is and who better to tell it than by our friends.

All our couples have given their consent for the letters to be published, though we have chosen to remove their personal details.

Dear Mr Gazvani, Claire and Sue

When we decided to contact UKCFA it was very daunting: what was going to happen, was it trustworthy? We were very sceptical and unsure. We contacted the UK coordinater, Claire England. We had lots of information and from then everything moved quickly and was made so easy, nothing was ever too much trouble. We went to Liverpool Womens Hospital, where the consultants were very helpful. We were put at ease with everything, the worries and concerns we had quickly melted. We were also put in touch with Dorothy Madine, the coordinator in Cyprus who helped us with any queries we had. We were then off to Cyprus. On arrival we were met at the airport by Mehmet, who ferried us back and forth to the hospital. Without him we would have been lost, he was most helpful.

When we were in Cyprus the procedure was excellent. It didn’t feel clinical, they made us very at ease and comfortable, this also with the combination of being abroad made the whole treatment very relaxed for such a worrying and scary time. We now have healthy, adorable twins.

Love x

Dear Mr Gazvani and Claire

It is with great joy and happiness (and gratitude that mere words can not do full justice to) that I am writing to you to let you know that I gave birth to our darling baby daughter yesterday morning, the 29th January, 2010. We chose a Russian name in honour of the wonderful Russian lady who donated her eggs so that we could realise our dreams, via the work of you and your Team?

Our daughter weighed 6lbs 14 ounces and arrived into the world at 05:16am, after a long and arduous labour.
Thanks on behalf of all 3 of us for the joy that you and the Team here in Britain and in Cyprus have given us. You will all always remain in our hearts for helping us achieve our dreams.

With love

Dear Claire and Dorothy

Sorry it took so long to write to you but we’ve been so busy. Hope all is well in sunnier climes? Em wants to come back to see her friend Memhet, she still talks about him! Grace is doing really well, we’re into a routine now (almost!) and Em is still being a great help. I’ve attached a photograph for you and written about our experience.

I had my first daughter without any problems when I was 40 and decided to try straight away for another baby. I was devastated to be told after trying for two years and following exhaustive tests, that my ovarian reserve was so low, that I had little chance of having another baby. However, at the age of 44, I gave birth to my second daughter, all thanks to the UKCFA.
I was advised that egg donation offered the only chance, but the waiting list for a UK donor was years and I felt at a loss on how to proceed as a foreign donor was my only option. I communicated with a number of European clinics, but there were language difficulties and I didn’t feel that my questions were dealt with sympathetically at a time when I was feeling quite upset and confused. I discussed my concerns with my consultant, who put me in touch with the UKCFA. I was immediately contacted by their UK co-ordinator Claire, who called me at home and spent a great deal of time explaining how the donation process worked and the procedures my husband and I should expect to undergo before and during our trip to Cyprus. I was encouraged to ask any questions and immediately felt comfortable and confident in the UKCFA team approach. I had to attend only one referral appointment in Liverpool and again was encouraged to ask as many questions as I needed to.

I was contacted by Dorothy, a British Consultant Nurse who is based in Cyprus and one of the co-ordinators for the UKCFA. Dorothy reassured me about the treatment I would receive and the standards to which the hospital works. She even helped us find accommodation in Cyprus since we had decided to take our little girl with us for the 10 day trip. We decided when it was convenient for us to visit Cyprus and Claire sent us information from which we chose our donor and she arranged for all my medication to be delivered direct to me.

Once in Cyprus, the clinic arranged for us to be collected from the airport and our driver was available to take us to our clinic appointments. He gave us his private mobile number and insisted we ring if we needed any help. He arranged a hire car and when we had a minor motor accident, he sorted everything out for us with the other driver, over the phone!

The clinic was modern and clean with excellent facilities and the staff could not have been nicer to us, or our little girl. We only had to attend on two occasions, for a couple of hours each time. Dorothy was always available to explain what was going to happen (and hold my hand at times!) and she kept in daily contact as our embryos developed. Once home, Claire and Dorothy continued to offer support until we had our pregnancy confirmed and we returned to NHS care.

We cannot thank the UKCFA staff enough for helping us to achieve our dream, their kindness and professionalism cannot be praised highly enough!

Love to xxx

Hello Mr Gazvani,

Apologies for the delay in letting you know that we now have a beautiful daughter – Jessica, who was born on 8th May. We did pop into the Hewitt Centre last month hoping to see you but you were not in the hospital that day. Perhaps you could let us know when would be a good time to come in as we would love to introduce you to Jessica.

Mr Kingsland said he would like to meet our baby daughter also when we bumped in to him during the pregnancy. If you could let us know also when it would be convenient to visit you both we would love to come and see you.

We would also like to take this opportunity to thank you again for your expert help in making our dream come true. We are very proud parents.

Yours Sincerely

Dear Claire

Had a lovely time in Cyprus and had a wonderful experience at the clinic. Great team of people! I had 7 embryos which split into 14, 7 girls and 7 boys! I had 2 implanted (crossing fingers and toes!) 10 were good enough to freeze. I’m going away on holiday when I need to do my test so will take some pregnancy kits away with me and will let you know how it goes!

Thank you so much for all your help!

Hello Mr Kingsland

I just wanted to write and thank you for all your help and support during our treatment . We found the Cyprus clinic to be very, very good and we were very impressed. Everything went perfectly, so thank you for organising everything so well between Liverpool and Cyprus. Dorothy said our donor was very good, so we are so pleased with our choice. The doctor in Cyprus also said she was a good match and looked like me – same shape and size etc, so that was lovely to hear. I will let you know of the test result, early next week!

Hope to see you all soon. x x x

Hi Gazvani

Thank you for the e-mail. We would like to thank everybody connected with our latest trip for the professionalism and personal service given to us. It was better than expected and seemed like a normal holiday apart from a few hours at the clinic so it worked our very well.

We will let you know the results of the test next week.

Many, many thanks

Dear Dr. Gazvani and Belgin,

Please forgive me for not contacting you earlier but we have wonderful news to share. Our baby son was born in Portland, Oregon during March of this year. Nathan was six months old yesterday and the first few months have been exciting as well as a time of adapting for us all.

Please would you kindly inform Dr. Tekin and the rest of the team of our wonderful news?

Thank you.

Many blessings
